Learn how to export a book for Kindle with the help of Kotobee Author.
Kindle relies on the Mobipocket (MOBI) format, which is based on the Open ebook standard. This format is the one you need if you're targeting Kindle devices. To export a book for Kindle:
- Click on Export in the header bar.
- Click on Kindle in the Export Standard Files in the left column. If you are using Kotobee Author without a serial number, the Create button will read as “Enter serial number”. Click on it and follow the instructions you'll be given to register for a free serial number.
Once you have the required permissions, the buttons will turn to Create. - Click on Optimize (optional).
Optimizing decreases the size of your ebook by removing unused images and files.
If you've manually added images through the file manager and will access them using Javascript, you should not optimize your ebook.
Now you're done exporting your ebook.
Interactive Components
Sadly, the MOBI format doesn't support interactive components added using Kotobee Author. As of Kindle's latest specification (KF8), it doesn't support Javascript. According to Kindle's Publishing Guidelines:
"Kindle Format 8 supports most HTML 5.0 features, although the following HTML features are not fully supported: forms, frames, and JavaScript."
