Learn how to create your own custom tabs for your Kotobee Library apps.
With Kotobee Author you can customize the buttons (tabs) in your app's control bar at the bottom of the screen.
In the image below, you'll see an example where two buttons were added: Website and Information.
To start adding your own tabs:
- Click on the Manage tab.
The Manage screen will open.
Click on Libraries in the left panel.
Select your library from the drop-down list in the top bar.
Select Customize from the Libraries menu in the left panel.
Go to the Tabs option.
Click on the Add tab button.The Add tab window will open.
Under Title type in the label that will appear below the new tab's icon.
Select one of the four additional tab options:
- Follow the instructions below for the function you selected.
When you're done, don't forget to save.
To Website
Add a link to a website to make access to an online source quick and easy for your readers.
Paste the web address in the URL field.
For WebApps:
- Click on the drop-down menu under Target.
- Choose if you want the website to open in the Same window or a New Window.
To Book Location
This tab option will lead your readers to a particular chapter in the book. You can choose to add the link at the beginning of the chapter, or you can choose an anchored link within a chapter.

Click on the drop-down menu under Chapter.
Choose the chapter you’d like to link to.
Click on the drop-down menu under Target.
You can choose the Beginning of chapter or choose an anchor.
Popup Message
This tab option displays a popup window with text or an image - useful for quick references for your readers. Whether equations in math and science books or pictures or timelines in humanities books, small additions can make using your ebook easier for your readers.
Select Text, then type in the words, description or explanation you want.
Select Image to insert an image from your computer.
Audio
This tab option will play an MP3 file, either from an uploaded MP3 file, or hosted from a website.
- Select Audio URL (Mp3 link), then paste the URL link to the MP3 file.
- Select Add audio file. Then choose the audio file you’d like to upload from your computer.
When you're done, save.
- Close all customization tabs.
- Click Save changes.
